if you want a kitten you might think you want one as young as possible – which is 6 weeks BUT you really need to know that 8 weeks is better – the kitten will be healtheir and better ready for the move – they are still cute at 8 weeks…
call your vet if you cannot find a shelter in your area in the phone book
Usually it’s 8 weeks. Kittens younger than that need to be with their mothers if possible. Most shelters try to keep younger kittens in foster care till 8-10 weeks old. Young kittens need to be cared for by experienced people. Their systems are still weak and they are very susceptible to infections.
well the kittens MUST remain with their mother until they are at least 8 weeks old. I found two kittens on the street and they were only one week old. even their eyes were not properly opened. they were not able to walk. believe me it was very difficult to take care of them. Now they are 10 weeks old. but during this time i faced a lot of problems.many times i thought that’s it now they won’t survive but by the grace of God they were able to pull on. Now they are very active kittens enjoying life. but still when i think of that time I shiver.many times they were almost dead in my hands. i was looking at them n crying thinking that its over but they recovered. I still think if they would have been with their mom they would have been better off and they wouldn’t have to go through the pain they went through in growing up.
