What to worry about when I bring home my new Persian kitten?
am buying my mom and I a new Persian kitten. We lost our Persian in a recent house fire. She comes home May 7th. What should I worry about upon bringing her to my new home? It has been awhile since I had a baby cat in the house. I also graduate college this weekend and its Mother’s Day. How do I make this kitty feel at home?

I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your other cat. In order to make your new kitten feel at home, prepare everything she’ll need: ceramic or glass bowls for food and water, a nice sized litterbox without a cover, clay (not scoopable) litter (young kittens sometimes like to eat the scoopable), a cozy cat bed or a cardboard box lined with fluffy towels or a blanket, a tall scratching post, and a variety of cat-safe toys. No toys with wiggle eyes, ribbons or bells, as these are easily ingested.
Show your kitten all her belongings and give her time to get used to her new surroundings. ‘Kitten/cat-proof’ your home, by making sure there are no plants/flowers, dangling cables, telephone, or electrical wires, or window blind cords, and also make sure she can’t open cabinets in the kitchen or bathroom, where possible poisons are kept. If she tries to open them, you can put child-locks on them. Make sure there are no ‘tight’ spaces she can crawl under or behind, and not get out. You can confine her to one room for her first few days, with all her essentials, so she doesn’t feel overwhelmed by the whole house, and then you can introduce her to each room, slowly. Be sure to give her lots of attention, playtime, and love.
There’s also many books on the subject, and even better since different breeds can have different behavior, I found great E-book you can download, specifically on Persian cats. I’ll post the name and link below:
