Kitten Adoption…..What do you think?
So I found two cats outside a while ago. They were both pregnant and had kittens within days of each other. A grand total of 9 kittens. I researched "adoptions" quite a bit. I finally posted an ad on craigslist and got tons of responses. I requested .00 per kitten and that the new owners sign "contracts’ (printed from planned pethood) that basically said if for any reason at anytime they decide they can no longer keep/want the kittens then they bring them back to me. No questions asked. I have only allowed people that I felt REALLY good about to take my kittens. Once I met them and decided if they were a good fit I waived the adoption fee. (I just put the .00 to see if they would be willing to pay for them.) But I did require that they fill out forms and keep in touch. (Which some of them have, I am giving it about 2 weeks before I call around to check up on them). The mama’s are now fixed and going to my grandfather so no B.S. about how awful I am. Do you think I did well with the adoption process? I truley did my best to make sure they went to kind, loving homes.
yes for those of you that ask. The question was posted twice. It showed up deleted on this one (glitch I guess) and I reposted it. Thanks for telling me how awful I am. Considering I did more for the kittens then many other people would. At least I didn’t leave them on the street or "free to good home".
Dutch Girl: I was surprised too! I thought people would skip right over me but they didn’t. The people were very nice. I didn’t give them to anyone that even gave me a hint of weird vibe.

You did the best that you knew how to do. Plain and simple.
Personally, I’ve tried CL for kitten adoption and came up with nothing. Plus, I stopped trying once the idea that the kittens may be abused came over me. I eventually got them to a no-kill shelter. But if you talked to the people and did your best with keeping in contact, I think that’s a great thing. Most people would not care.
Also, I disagree with the person saying that you should have gotten then fixed. Once you got them adopted, that’s up to the new owner to take care of their medical needs. But that’s also one great benefit of sending them to a shelter.
Should of had the kittens fixed too…now you just multiplied the issue.
This was such a great thing for you to do. Thanks so much for taking in the pregnant cats and taking time to find safe homes for the kittens, not a lot of people would do that. You’re a truly kindhearted person.
=)
No, you didn’t – because you gave away UNALTERED kittens. Which means if these kittens go on to breed, and their kittens, and rebreed, and rebreed, and so on and so on these 9 kittens could turn into THOUSANDS more kittens in just a few years.
The next time you have kittens to give away give them to a no-kill shelter so they’ll be spayed and neutered before they’re given away. http://www.saveourstrays.com/no-kill.htm
I would say you definitely did a lot more than anyone else I know would. I have to say, I have never heard of this procedure before. I truly am suprised you were able to get rid of them, especially when these people could have saw you requesting the 10 dollars and said forget that, and went and got kittens that someone else was offering for free. You are lucky, I have to say. It is nice that you care about their well being though.
Kittens aren’t a “problem” Polaris, stray kittens are. I think the poster did everything in her power to make sure that these cats didn’t become strays. What’s she gonna do, put an RFID chip in them?
Finally a worthwhile Site that has some excellent info on it. Maintain up the effort youve carried out on the internet site.Craigslist pva
Wow, it seems so rare to hear a heartwarming story like this. How did you have the time and attention to deal with two pregnant cats? You are a kind soul.
