Try looking at the Humane Society Website:
http://www.hsus.org/
I have adopted one cat from there and have gotten my friends to adopt cats from our local Humane Society. It’s a great organization and I recommend looking at your local Humane Society before looking at the ones in stores. Please take it into consideration!
For some stores:
http://www.petsmart.com/
http://www.petco.com/
Try kijiji or craigslist. You could even check your local classifieds
petfinder.com
petfinder.com
You can even type in a specific breed. All these cats and kittens are rescues who need help.
can you add details telling were you live i have two cats that i am looking for a good home they are calico’s very beautiful and just turn a year old so just tell me were you live so i can see if i can help. if you wanna see pics and is interested email me at ilovehorsesss@yahoo.com

RSPCA or Cat Protection Society (CPS)
I would reccomend getting off your bum and going to a shelter, as they are all already wormed vaccinated and desexed. As a bonus, if something happens or the pet doesn’t work out, they offer a "gaurentee". Not to mention that the cats at a shelter really need those homes. Also you can spend as much time as you like with the kitten and make sure it is the right one for you.
Whatever you do though, DO NOT but one off the internet or out of a newspaper. They are mostly backyard breeders.
Try Petsmart they have adoption centers
do yourself a favor and hit up your local shelter. it’s ALWAYS kitten season at a shelter and they will ensure the cat is healthy and up to date with shots. the adoption ‘fee’ willalso cover spay or neuter. all my cats have come from shelters. my oldest is currently 12 and he’s an absolute blessing!
good luck – don’t forget – BIG responsibility!
http://www.petfinder.com is my first choice,
but many shelters are not on petfinder. I would look up your local shelter in the yellow pages.
.~. I am really thankful to this topic because it really gives great information `”;
