Chinchilla?
What type of toys do chinchillas like to play with? I know cardboard tubes are popular, but what else? Pet stores have a lot to choose from, and I don’t want to waste money on something the chinchilla wouldn’t like. Also, what is a high quality brand of food and hay cubes? Treats too. And bath dust. I’ve never had a chinchilla before, so tell mem anything you can about them!

DO NOT Give you chins apricots OR any fruit with a pit!!
Go real easy on the treats, there are too many sugars and will make your chin a fussy eater…

Wooden PINE toys made from Kiln Dried Pine are great toys…. there is also a list of SAFE and NON-Safe woods in the pages listed.
Meal worms are also NOT a good idea for chinchillas…

My chinchilla is about a year old and I’ve totally spoiled him with everything, it has not been a waste because he gets so excited whenever I give him something new! I’ll tell you what his most and least favorites are.
A cage that has several levels is important, they LOVE to run, jump, and play. His is 3 1/2 feet tall, 2 1/2 feet wide, and 1 1/2 feet deep. It has 4 levels. The cage all by its self made him SO happy.
MOST
-Open faced wheel
-Hammock
-Wooden house (to sleep, hide, climb on, and chew)
-Wooden stepping platforms on his cage wall (climb & chew)
-Large cardboard Tubes (chew, hide, and play)
-Cuddle Buddy (stuffed toy) SO CUTE, he LOVES his! He sleeps cuddled up to it- it’s so cute!
-He loves his hanging dust bath/ dust house
-Hanging wooden bird toys, he has a few (to chew)
NOT SO MUCH
-Large Bird Swing
-Thick wooden bird perch/ stick
-hanging tunnel (hammock type)
That’s about it… he likes just about everything…
I’m still going to buy him a marble slab and a Large ball to run in. I’m sure he’ll love them too.
TREATS
You shouldn’t give your chin a lot of treats, they are not good for them. Even though they LOVE them. I was told to only give my chin 1 (one) treat a day. One raisin, One baby carrot, or one yogurt treat… pick only ONE. You can kill him/her with kindness.

They like Apple twigs a lot, raisins, I also buy these "dandelion drops," my male chin LOVES them, when he finds it in the room sometimes he tries to grab the bag and take it to his cage, so funny., although my female chin doesn’t like those so much. They like pumice stones to gnaw on as well. But I think the best way for them to play is to let them run around the room (chin proofed of course)…freedom from their cage is the best playtime for them
